KICKSTART YOUR FILM CAREER WITH A LOCAL JOURNALISM FILM

'Doclokaal' offers an experimental classroom for young documentary makers (20-30 years) to produce journalistic documentaries and series for regional and local public broadcasters in different regions in the Netherlands. Under the guidance of an experienced project coach and a cameraman, they create in-depth cross-media documentaries for television and online, supported by longreads or series of articles. Our goal is threefold: strengthening local journalism, addressing social issues and offering a springboard for young talent to a successful career.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

BEGINNING FILMMAKERS

Have you made a film, for example for your graduation, and would you like to reach a large audience with your next film? Then we are looking for you!

RESEARCHERS/JOURNALISTS

Media professionals who have previously worked on documentaries, for example as a researcher or editor, but who have no experience as a director are also welcome to apply.

ARTISTS

Media professionals who have been producing commercial work for years or artistic productions who want to make the step to substantive productions are also welcome.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

REGIONAL ARENA

We are looking for current and urgent social stories with a regional arena that take place in the Haaglanden region or the province of Utrecht and are close to the hearts of the residents.

DEEP LAYER OF RESEARCH

Sharp, in-depth journalistic research is translated into cinematic 50-minute investigative journalism documentaries.

DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

The documentaries show the diverse views on the social theme. By highlighting these perspectives, the viewer can form their own judgement and opinion.
